Love & Links Wont Bring Fame & Fortune

Did you know, as a photographer creates an image (whether digital or film), copyright is automatic?  It then follows in that creation that a photographer whether running a business or not, is allowed the privilege of licensing where they wish their product or creation to be viewed. 

There appears a growing lack of respect for photographers who create images in the course of their work, whether it be in the news or media, images that payment and credit is required for in the main is not being given. If images are used in ignorance and without the expected payment and legal requirements those images are then launched into cyber-space without any visible means of parentage and can quickly become cyber-orphaned for all time. Thus negating any further financial benefit to the image creator and as there is no name given where is the return business to the photographer? Continue Reading »

BBC Blast On Wight

A taster of things to come as BBC Blast will descend on the Isle of Wight in November.  They have provided this video: Discover the key elements of portraiture as described by Steve Double, celebrity and artist portrait photographer.

The BBC Blast Team Roadshow is coming to the Isle of Wight to help Island youth get in touch with and experience their creative flair. 

This is the first visit for Blast, who will build an impressive mobile creative village, complete with digital workshop spaces, at Quay Arts on Sea Street in Newport, from Wednesday 11th to Friday 13th November 2009.  Read more from the Island Pulse here:

7th Hantsweb Award Nomination For IWDIG

7th Hantsweb Award NominationYou may recall having recently read on Island Pulse about the 7th Hantsweb Awards.

Well, congratulations to us all! we are delighted to let our members know the Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group website has been nominated in three categories. 

Each year, Hantsweb, the online presence of Hampshire County Council, invites nominations for their Web Awards competition.  The 7th Hantsweb Awards were divided up into 12 categories with the IWDIG nominated in Charity or Voluntary Organisation, Education and Learning along with Special Interest.
