Guy Edwardes Nature and Landscape Photographer Visits the Island

Guy Edwardes is coming to the Isle of Wight to give a presentation and share his skill at Sandown and Shanklin District Camera Club base camp in Watery Lane Newchurch.

Guy the author of these books (pictured), regularly presents his work to various clubs and organisations around the UK and will provide an insight and share his expertise with the theme of “Nature and Landscape Photography Techniques”

His current presentation will include over three hundred images that illustrate some of the methods he uses to capture his favourite wildlife and landscape photographs.  Techniques such as painting with torchlight, shooting wildflowers with long telephoto lenses and how to approach wildlife are discussed in detail.

SSDCC New Website

United Colours Of Autumn

For photographers struggling with the IWDIG Autumn Image task, we discovered some photoshop tutorials and videos, that could give your pictures the edge.

There’s plenty of photo opportunities to be had in autumn as landscapes come alive with oranges, reds and yellows. One problem arises at this time of year, as exposure can be a problem caused by the low sun.

Monochrome Miscellany Exhibition A Success

For those who have yet to view the ”Monochrome Miscellany Exhibition at Ventnor Winter Gardens you had better get your skates on, as it ends this week (25th November).

Well done to those photographers who participated, the exhibition was well received and managed to capture interest in providing  “something for everyone”.

We even got a mention in the 5th November, Weekender Section of the Isle of Wight County Press.

IWDIG Bridged Digital Divide

The recent Get Online Week 2010 heralded success for the Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group, when we focused efforts and exceeded our target of getting over 50 people online.

We ran four events promoting web and computer use at our meetings in Dimbola Lodge, throughout October.

We were really pleased to be on the map as one of only three events taking place across the Isle of Wight.  We had a lot of phone calls thanks to the BBC who provided details of our events to interested callers. Continue Reading »
