Island Photographers Focused On Worldwide Photo Walk

On Saturday enthusiastic photographers of all ages explored and snapped photos of whatever caught their eye in the first Isle of Wight Worldwide Photo Walk.

46 photographers walked and snapped their way through history, culture, nature and lifestyle in and around Freshwater. It is the largest social photography event in the world and something the Isle of Wight has not participated in before. Continue Reading »

Nikon Filed Patent Infringement Against Sigma

Nikon is seeking an injunction against Sigma, as well as multi-million pound damages, for alleged patent infringement of its vibration reduction technology used in interchangeable lenses.

Nikon D7000 Wins Grand Prix Award

Nikon Corporation have announced that the Nikon D7000 digital-SLR camera is the recipient of the CameraGP2011 Readers Award.  The D7000 was also the recipient of the TIPA Awards 2011 Best D-SLR Advanced award.

This Readers Award was established in 2008 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Camera Grand Prix. The recipient of this year’s award was selected with voting by general users between March 28 and April 10, 2011. Continue Reading »

Sony Joins The Carnival

The latest Sony advertising campaign for its Digital Imaging range promotes a brand new camera concept, the a (alpha) NEX-5 and NEX-3 compact system cameras and rolled out across Europe in July. The campaign focuses on promoting the new cameras that sit within Sony’s alpha range and offer DSLR picture quality using interchangeable lens on a camera the size of a traditional compact.

Nikon have launched this year’s Nikon Photo Contest International with a call for entries from photographers of all skill levels around the world. Now in its 33rd year, the global competition is established as one of the world’s most important and inspiring contests.

The Nikon Photo Contest International provides an opportunity for photographers to showcase their work and to contribute to photographic culture. Entries will be accepted between September 1st and November 30th, 2010 and the winners announced in June 2011. Continue Reading »

Well, congratulations to us all! we are delighted to let our members know the Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group website has been nominated in three categories. 

Each year, Hantsweb, the online presence of Hampshire County Council, invites nominations for their Web Awards competition.  The 7th Hantsweb Awards were divided up into 12 categories with the IWDIG nominated in Charity or Voluntary Organisation, Education and Learning along with Special Interest.
