Photographers from the Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group were chosen as finalists in the recent Quay Arts Art competition. Sandra, Colin and Lucy are pictured with their selected artwork at the Medina Leisure Centre “Careers 4 All” day held on 21st February 2008. 

Although keen digital photographers, on this occasion, no photographic images were submitted for the competition.  Both Lucy and Colin enlisted the aid of software programs and their computer skills to create their images ranging in very diverse styles including computer graphics, anime and manga whilst Sandra relied purely on her artistic talents and traditional methods. 

All of the pictures and artwork shortlisted for this competition was of an exceptionally high standard and we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Sandra, Colin and Lucy for their great achievement. It’s encouraging to see photographers expanding their skills into the art arena as we are sure that both of these disciplines compliment each other. 

Perhaps this is a lesson for all of us;  don’t just think of photography as a medium on its own, consider art and in turn it may well expand your photographic skills.
