IWDIG On Great Exhibition 2012

The Great Exhibition 2012 has just launched its first regional campaign on the Isle of Wight.

Not wanting to miss out on this innovation, the Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group are now actively seeking votes as one of the Greats for The Great Exhibition 2012.

We want to improve our ranking by sharing how great the Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group is with friends, on Facebook and Twitter.  So it’s time to let your fingers do the talking and vote for the IWDIG as your favourite thing on the Isle of Wight.

Larry Ellis ‘Take Tea With The Stars’

A rolling Photographic Exhibition by Larry Ellis is taking place in the Cameron Tearooms at Dimbola Museum and Galleries.

Very much up close and personal with many of the stars of the period, now you to can get up close and personal with the likes of Sammy Davis Jr, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and many more at Larry’s exhibition ‘Tea With The Stars’ at Dimbola. The exhibition is free as long as you enjoy a cup of tea.

With Beatle-mania and the Swinging Sixties scene in London about to explode, 1963 was a very good time for Press Photographer Larry Ellis to be joining the ranks of the Fleet Street ‘snapper’. Continue reading

Photographers Flashmob

The campaign group ‘I’m a Photographer, Not a Terrorist’ is organising a flashmob outside London’s City Hall. 

The mass gathering will highlight the restrictions on street photography in a public space.

The event takes place on International Press Freedom Day and is supported by the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) London Photographers’ Branch (LPB).   Read more click here

Isle of Wight Photo Agency

With their fingers firmly on the shutter, the Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group network of photographers have launched the first  ‘Isle of Wight Photo Agency’.

Building on a commitment to ensure photographers realise appreciation in the creativity and value of their work,  the photo agency is part of a series of innovations to give IWDIG photographers a heads up on the business side of their photography.

Due to increasing demand from media publishers for high quality, cost effective images for use on corporate sites, books and in magazines there appears to be a market for this type of stock photography. Continue reading

IWDIG Member Wins Isle of Wight Photographer Of the Year

Congratulations to Michael (Mike) Cooper, for scooping the  Isle of Wight Photographer Of the Year Competition 2010.

Michael follows in David Vennings (2009) and Kevin Mitchell’s (2006) footsteps of IWDIG members who have won the IWPOY since its inception..

Together with his winning certificate, Michael also received a large canvas print presented by Councillor Ian Stephens, who is also  the current Isle of Wight Council Chairman. Continue reading

Dark Chamber Pinhole Photography

Dark Chamber is a new exhibition of pinhole photography opening at Dimbola Lodge on 1st April 2011. 

In a world dominated by digital manipulation and the instant delete button, the photographs in Dark Chamber are a simple expression of people’s desire to regain the mystery of photography as expressed in many computer and mobile applications offering analogue effects.

IWDIG ‘Spring Into Summer Online’

Over the last 6 months the IWDIG have hosted a series of informational and practical events to help people get online.  The intended goal, to get as many people who are not already internet-savvy to go online and see the benefits for themselves.

The IWDIG are happy to open the door and run free awareness sessions to give older people and other less confident users a taste of computers and the internet. A special  ‘Spring Into Summer Online’ takes place on Wednesday evening between 7.00 pm – 9.00 pm. Continue reading
