A rolling Photographic Exhibition by Larry Ellis is taking place in the Cameron Tearooms at Dimbola Museum and Galleries.

Very much up close and personal with many of the stars of the period, now you to can get up close and personal with the likes of Sammy Davis Jr, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and many more at Larry’s exhibition ‘Tea With The Stars’ at Dimbola. The exhibition is free as long as you enjoy a cup of tea.

With Beatle-mania and the Swinging Sixties scene in London about to explode, 1963 was a very good time for Press Photographer Larry Ellis to be joining the ranks of the Fleet Street ‘snapper’. Continue Reading »

Photographers can now focus on something that will bring an end to the mega pixel race.   Chris Marquardt has developed a mind blowing new camera called The Invisible Camera.

Using ground breaking technology similar to polarization, to amplify the light that forms the image by harnessing ambient light.

This project to create the worlds first ‘Invisible Camera has its roots back in the early 1990s, and after years of research, a limited quantity of 100 cameras were available for field test.   Watch the Video Continue Reading »

The recent Get Online Week 2010 heralded success for the Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group, when we focused efforts and exceeded our target of getting over 50 people online.

We ran four events promoting web and computer use at our meetings in Dimbola Lodge, throughout October.

We were really pleased to be on the map as one of only three events taking place across the Isle of Wight.  We had a lot of phone calls thanks to the BBC who provided details of our events to interested callers. Continue Reading »

Photo History Set For Re-Write

New research into some of the world’s oldest photographs which reside at the National Media Museum in Bradford, has revealed a previously undiscovered method of image making dating to the 1820s.

Recent technical analysis by scientists from the Getty Conservation Institute in Los Angeles show three of the photographic plates created by the world’s first photographer, Joseph Nicéphore Niépce (pictured), demonstrate a range of different photographic experiments.

All the plates, from the Museum’s Royal Photographic Society Collection, were previously believed to have been created using the same method, however the ground-breaking research shows one of the plates illustrated Niépce’s skill in copying prints of the day and included deep etching, done by the photographer, to enhance the original image.
