Today a “Total Lunar Eclipse” will take place, and although we planned to capture the moment at the Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group it looks like visibility will be zero.
The lunar eclipse begins at 6.24pm and lasts until midnight, the moon will be blood red in colour for nearly two hours. Weather permitting and clear skies, it would have been visible from the Isle of Wight when the sun set at 9.19pm. Continue Reading »

With the current explosion in Social Media technologies Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc has made it easier than ever to connect with friends and groups of similar hobbies and interests from all around the world.

Christmas 2010 started early for the Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group at the last meeting of the year on 15th December 2010 with our not to be missed annual christmas get together.
Thanks for all of the great photographs submitted in 2010 (it’s no wonder we don’t have time for in-house competitions) looking forward to ‘the new batch’ in 2011.
The evening was well attended with 25 members and their guests and as with last year the most improved photographer was announced.

For photographers struggling with the IWDIG Autumn Image task, we discovered some photoshop tutorials and videos, that could give your pictures the edge.
There’s plenty of photo opportunities to be had in autumn as landscapes come alive with oranges, reds and yellows. One problem arises at this time of year, as exposure can be a problem caused by the low sun.

The official week to get online in 2010 has begun. Regular visitors to this website will know the Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group have been running Get Online events promoting web and computer use since the beginning of October.

“Monochrome Miscellany”, as the title suggests, covers a variety of subjects from portraits through to landscapes and winter trees. Using a number of techniques and cameras Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group photographers managed to capture “something for everyone”.
An open invitation to the launch and artists reception at Ventnor Winter Gardens on Thursday 28th October 7:00 p.m in the Balmoral Gallery. The exhibition is free to view and will run between 28th October till 25th November 2010.
With a tight deadline and the brief to capture, select, print and frame this exhibition in just two weeks the IWDIG takes great pleasure in presenting the outcome of this photographic challenge.
