It’s official: once again we’re about to put the Isle of Wight on the photographic map. by hosting a worldwide photo walk.

This walk will be unique as when we step out from Dimbola Lodge the centre of photographic excellence in October, we will be joining thousands of photographers from across the world.

This Worldwide Photo Walk event is free and open to everyone on the Isle of Wight. Its also a great chance to meet other local photographers, and find out what interests them.

As far as we know the Island has never held such an event before and one condition that will appeal to most photographers is the event is totally free.  There are 50 places up for grabs but in order to secure one you will have to sign up online.

A photowalk is walking with a camera for the main purpose of taking pictures of things that the photographer may find interesting. The aim is to practice and improve one’s own photography skills, as well having some gentle exercise.

In hundreds of places all around the world between 1st-2nd October 2011, photographers will be going on the official Scott Kelby’s 4th Annual Worldwide Photo Walk™ during which they’ll take photos which can then be entered into a contest to find the best image.

There are global prizes to be had, and whoever puts the best photo in from our walk will also get a prize. The rules are simple: any image captured during the walk itself can be entered into an online gallery for judging.

The gentle paced walk will start and end at Dimbola Lodge taking in Freshwater 1pm to 4pm. Refreshments and possible chimping will mean you should set aside 2 hours 30 mins for the walk and related activities.
