Good news to get focused on photography!

Following an extended ‘Gap Year’ the Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year Competition and Awards (IWPOY) will return in January 2013.

The Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year Competition and Awards initiated 2006, provides an opportunity for all photographers around the Isle of Wight to communicate and share their skills with other Island photographers.

As organisers of the annual competition  “the Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year will be back in January 2013 with prizes and challenges for all photographers who live on the Island.”

Entry is FREE and you do not have to be a member of a photography club to enter…

“Our  photographic mission includes;  assignments and tasks which are geared to appeal to those who are new to photography as well the established photographer seeking an outlet for their creativity. 

IWDIG do not buy into the historical genre of monthly in-house/interclub competitions.

“The IWDIG started inviting photographers in the UK to enter our unique external competitions in 2005, then going Global before focusing and creating the annual Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year Competition/Awards in 2006.”  Camera Club Launches Global Shootout

The IWPOY competition is open to Isle of Wight resident photographers (amateur or professional).

The Isle of Wight County Press reported on the inception and original concept of the IWPOY. A former member was interviewed by Martin Neville (news item below), as featured in the IWCP Apr 17, 2006.
