Walking our way through the photographic world of the Isle of Wight, we discovered a gap in the Isle of Wight Walking Festival, which has inspired us to launch our own Photo Walks across the Island.
The Island is one of the best area’s in the UK for walking and whilst there is something for all ages and abilities, one thing we found lacking in the Isle of Wight Walking Festival Autumn Weekend programme was a walk specifically aimed at photographers.
Open to anyone who wants to get a little more from their photography ‘Photo Walks’ are not about competition but a good way on getting other like minded people together to take photographs. Continue Reading »

Following on from Brian May’s pre birthday bash, the Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group celebrated another special birthday at Dimbola last week.
Having discovered former Fleet Street celebrity snapper Larry Ellis shared the same birthday as Brian May, we could not let his 80th Birthday pass by without a friendly gesture from all his friends at the IWDIG.
When Amanda brought in the main Chocolate Torte, we dont know who was more surprised, as for the first time in history Larry seemed lost for words. Continue Reading »

We welcomed very special guests a Dimbola yesterday. As mentioned earlier Brian May was to host a book signing of A Village Lost and Found. As today 19th July just happens to be Brian May’s birthday, we enjoyed an impromptu pre birthday party bash with cake in the Seminar room.
Brian May and his wife Anita Dobson are a delightful couple and they went out of their way to interact with everyone who attended the very successful book signing.
The Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group would like to wish Brian a very happy birthday and we hope both he and Anita enjoy this special day on the Isle of Wight.
Which reminds me there will be another special birthday celebration at Dimbola this week. I have been sworn to secrecy but rest assured all will be revealed on Wednesday along with a birthday cake. Continue Reading »

Today a “Total Lunar Eclipse” will take place, and although we planned to capture the moment at the Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group it looks like visibility will be zero.
The lunar eclipse begins at 6.24pm and lasts until midnight, the moon will be blood red in colour for nearly two hours. Weather permitting and clear skies, it would have been visible from the Isle of Wight when the sun set at 9.19pm. Continue Reading »
