Regular visitors will remember: Island photography club members were invited to view – for free – the “Electric Woods – Blazing June”, at Robin Hill.

Congratulations to Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group photographers Verena Sparrow, Chris Cornford and John Sparrow who scooped three out of four categories in the Electric Woods Photography Competition.  John also took the title of Overall Winner! and all winning participants are to receive their images on canvas.

The Categories and Winners were:

1, Reflective Moment – Woodland Ponds & Overall Winner John Sparrow (IWDIG)

2, Best Single Illuminated Tree. Verena Sparrow (IWDIG)

3, Woodland Music & Entertainment. Chris Cornford (IWDIG)

4, Best Illuminated Feature. Fay Woodford (Focus Ryde Imaging Group)

The aim of the competition arranged by Robin Hill Adventure Park & Gardens was to capture, through the eyes of the photographic community the challenging yet creative dark environment of the Electric Woods event at night.

James Crofts said: A big thanks goes to everyone whom took the time to come and support our event and to enter the competition. The quality of the photos entered was very high and I know Steve (Gascoigne) and the team had a tough time choosing the winners. I hope everyone had fun taking part, testing your photography skills in an entirely different environment all together.

Winners will receive tickets for themselves and a guest to return to the ‘Electric woods’ for the second instalment in the 2012 run of events, ‘Electric Woods: Ambient August’ running from the 31st July and every Tuesday and Thursday throughout August.

A special prize giving is being arranged, as they say watch this space…
